Lincoln Memorial

Probably the most visited memorial to see while in D.C. is the Lincoln Memorial. Home to where the sixteenth President, Abraham Lincoln, delivered the “Gettysburg Address” and his second inaugural address and Martin Luther King Jr’s “I Have A Dream Speech” this is a definite must-see while visiting D.C.

National World War II Monument

A very sad, but necessary stop while in D.C. This monument is fifty-six pillars that surround a reflecting pool to honor all of the Americans that served as armed forces in World War II. It is a very important aspect of American history that surely should not be missed to honor your respects for those that have served our country.

US Capitol & Library of Congress

The building where Congress debates about policy and law is a must-see while you’re visiting D.C. The building is filled with artwork depicting American history that will surely tell the history of our nation to your children. Visiting is free, but be sure to schedule in advance to ensure a reservation.

Tour The White House

The most iconic building in Washington D.C., visiting the White House is a definite must-do while in D.C. Show your children exactly where the President lives and see the gorgeous home in all its glory. Self-guided tours are available Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 to 11:30 am, however arrangements must be submitted in advance through your member of Congress. Keep in mind that purses/backpacks, cameras and strollers are not allowed.

Explore the Smithsonian

The inspiration behind “Night At The Museum” this museum offers eleven different museums and galleries for your enjoyment and exploration. Some of the options include the American Art Museum, American History Museum and the National History Museum. The best thing about this museum? It is completely free!

National Archives

The National Archives are full of information and monuments including The Bill of Rights, Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Again, admission is always free and it is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm seven days a week.

A classic for Washington D.C. regulars this cheap pizza place is some of the best pizza in the area. There are different options including selecting from their classic favorites, or create a pizza all your own. This is definitely a place of cheap eats for the whole family!

Le Diplomate

A cute French restaurant that’s a bit on the pricier side, but worth it because it’s always a crowd favorite. It has a cute little patio out back that is perfect if you’re visiting in the warmer months or even during the fall or spring. Common restaurant goers recommend the profiteroles for dessert and say that the complimentary bread is delicious. However, if you want to avoid a wait be sure to make a reservation in advance.

A Mediterranean restaurant that is highly recommended for brunch! Locals credit the restaurant with amazing ambiance, decor and location. Everyone also raves about the puffy pita bread that is served at the table!
