Create a folder compiled with all the info you need.

Grab an accordion folder and put inside of it everything you’ll need for your travel destination. This may include boarding passes, passports, agendas, transport accomodations to and from the airport, and any other papers you need for travel. This will ensure you have all of the papers you need from your departure all the way to your arrival.

Budget your spending.

Just because you’re traveling doesn’t mean you need to eat out every meal. If you opt for an Airbnb or a hotel with a kitchen you can save time and money by making meals on your own. If this is not possible in your hotel room, bring snacks for your kids and yourself to spend less in between meals. Also, trading going out to breakfast with purchasing breakfast bars or cereal to go will save you money.

Plan in advance.

Although this is not always possible, planning in advance will take much of the stress away from having to organize a family vacation. Not only will you save money, but you will also have much more peace of mind when the travel day comes. It’s everyone’s worst nightmare attempting to pack the night before and rushing to the airport only to barely make it on the flight. When you plan ahead you can organize and pack everything ahead of time and take (some of the) the stress of out traveling.

Create an agenda.

Although some spontaneity is necessary when traveling, creating a bare bones agenda is essential to ensure your trip is exciting, and that you accomplish all that you wish to. Decide what major things you want to do on your trip; this could be eating at a famous local restaurant, renting a boat for the day, or visiting an exciting museum. Whatever it may be decide on a few key things you wish to do while on your trip and decide what day you want to accomplish this. However, leave room to get sidetracked!

Another fun way to about this, with kids especially, is letting each child pick one thing they wish to do on the trip. That way the travel is fun for all because each child had his/her special attraction they got to see/do.

Use travel sites to find the best deals.

Vacationing seems unattainable for many, however travel doesn’t have to be expensive. Use sites like Expedia, Travelocity and Kayak to find the best deals on airfare, hotels and car rental. Check Groupon as well for discounts on attractions and activities you wish to see/do.
