Winter weather got you down? If you live in cold climate, winter can be a time where things get a little slow. During the summer there are a multitude of activities to do, but it seems as though there are no family winter activities.
However, I want to challenge that idea. There are so many different ways to have fun this winter, especially taking advantage of the cold weather! Here are 3 fun family winter activity ideas to give you a day full of fun!

Going to see a movie is a great way to start off your day! Find a movie that is perfect for the age groups within your family. If you have younger kids, opt for a G or PG animated film that will sure to bring your kids laughs! If your kids are older or more mature going for a PG or PG-13 movie with real actors could be better. Find something that works for your family!
Looking to save money on movie tickets and concession purchases? Another option for this is a family movie day at the comfort of your own home. Rent a movie on your cable provider, watch via Netflix or simply watch a movie you already own! Provide your own fun snacks like microwave popcorn, candy and other fun treats!

Take advantage of the chilly outdoor weather and warm up with comfort food in a delicious restaurant. While at the table play fun games involving different questions for everyone in the family to answer. For example: What is your dream vacation destination? Who is your favorite Disney character and why? Favorite movie? Absolute favorite food?
The money saving option of this activity is to make your lunch right at home. To make it a bit more exciting, try out a fun new recipe that you’ve been wanting to enjoy. Soups, stews and comfort food make for the best meals in the wintertime! To make this lunch even more fun, try having a picnic in your living room to make the lunch a bit special!
If you’re located near a big city, take advantage of the shopping and special activities they have available. For people in New York this may be skating at Rockefeller Center, Chicago it may be visiting the 95th Floor of the Hancock or The Ledge at the Sears Tower. Take note of what your city offers and see what there is to do.
This doesn’t need to be something as extravagant as some of the examples but it could be something as small as going to a local sledding hill, visiting a fun donut/dessert shop or local coffee shop for hot chocolate. Spending time inside is great for the winter, but also feel free to take advantage of the cold weather. Just don’t forget to bundle up!!
